UX Resources
Quick Start
The Barista Hustle sponsored UX event on 30 June 2025 at Prufrock in London showed UX in theory and practice. The obvious question is "What do I do next to explore UX?". Here are our suggestions.

Getting started
Buy any reasonable low-cost magnetic stirrer from Amazon or equivalent for £30-40, ideally with a digital readout. You do not need a stirrer-hotplate combination, just the stirrer! Also buy a few 3cm magnetic stirrer bars and a magnetic retriever stick.
Buy a borosilicate glass double-walled brewer with a lid. On Amazon the Dopper and EcoBrews are both fine, with the EcoBrew offering both a 350 and 450 ml version. Others are available.
Start with a “medium” grind 15 g of coffee. Get your 250 ml of near-boiling water spinning to a vortex of 1200 rpm with a 3cm stirrer bar. Tip in your coffee, start your timer. Stop stirring at 2 minutes. Allow to settle for 3 minutes, preferably at a Boycott angle of 30 - 45°. Pour through a fine tea strainer. This will be a good cup of coffee. Not great – it's not dialled in – but it will be good. Now start your own journey to your perfect UX setup, exploring Flash UX, UX Cezve and UXpresso according to your coffee preference and sense of adventure.
