Percent Solids

Quick Start

Percent solids calculations can be tricky with multiple components (C1-C3), some of which are supplied in solution, plus solvents (S1-S2), and because densities, weights and volumes are all involved. This calculator is powerful and versatile. We can also use the inputs to calculate the Volatile Organic Compound, VOC (or Hazardous Air Pollutant, HAP) content with each solvent (which may be water) selected as VOC/HAP or not.

Percent Solids and VOC/HAP

Wt C1 solution
ρ C1
Wt% C1 in solution
ρ C1 solvent
Is VOC or HAP
Wt C2 solution
ρ C2
Wt% C2 in solution
ρ C2 solvent
Is VOC or HAP
Wt C3 solution
ρ C3
Wt% C3 in solution
ρ C3 solvent
Is VOC or HAP
Wt Solvent 1
ρ Solvent 1
Is VOC or HAP
Wt Solvent 2
ρ Solvent 2
Is VOC or HAP

The app works via added weights. If you are adding via volumes, slide the weight sliders till you get your volumes. Weights and volumes of the solids are calculated as % of the total solids ("% S") and as % of the total ("% T"). The solvents are calculated as % T.

The weight units are unspecified and go from 0 to 100. You can imagine these as mg or g or kg. The convenience of sliders comes with some limitations in accuracy.

The VOC/HAP calculation could be in any number of units but g VOC/HAP per litre of solid seems the closest to the spirit of the various standards.
